I gave Consumer Advocates Group $2000 and so did many others. They have similar addresses, so it could be the same company. Just remember, they are not supposed to ask for money upfront. If you cannot walk into thier business and meet them face to face --- don't fall for a phone scam. Keep your money and find an alternative. Honestly, your mortgage company will have the final say in a sale or any kind of modification. Contact them first - I found out the hard way and now I am losing my home. Search the complaints about Consumer Advocates Group - there are tons of them. Just remember - if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is! Good luck to you and hope this helps. BTW, did they refer you to a website?

I actually drove up and down Santa Monica Blvd and met with several different law firms and i went with Advocates for Consumer Affairs just because i was able to sit down and talk with them about my file. Ive never done anything with them online, but i can say after leaving that Consumer Advocates Group office right down the street im happy i went with ACA.

Hello Leslie, Thanks so much for responding. Hmm, you actually saw them on site? Did you pay them an up front fee, and did they deliver on their promises? Who did you work with there? Forgive me for having so many questions, but I am really trying to discern what's up with them, as they have unlawfully got nearly $4,000 of mine and now will not respond to any phone calls, nor have they done anything meaningful on my account in the 3 months since we contracted. If you are a legitimate person doing business with them, will you please talk with me about it. Thanks! Leah

Did anyone notice the message on the review for Advocates for Consumer Affairs? It states: "I am certain without the help of CAG I would not have received such a great deal. Thank you Consumer Advocates Group. Billy Vu" Hmmmm...if they are not the same company, was it a mistake that Billy posted about Conumser Advcates Group and meant to post about Advocates for Consumer Affairs? Am I not reading it correctly? I used CAG in November and guess what, my home is being sold in auction on May 18th. Look closely and do your research because there are notices of Home Loan Modification scams and it warns people that it is illegal for a company to take an upfront fee for a Home Loan Modification. Not only that, my loan company would not discuss my loan with CAG because they are not certified in Idaho, which is the state I live in. Why didn't CAG tell me that upfront? CAG never told me anything, my home loan company did. They did nothing but upset my loan company and now they won't even work with me on a shortsale. If a company is going to help you, they do the work first and they will keep in contact with you. I have lost the $2000 CAG took from me. Now they are threatening to sue me for slander and they refuse to help or talk to me. I have not had any phone contact with them since December. Oh, that's when they got the money from me. All I ask, do your research. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. You home loan company has the final say in whatever happends to your home, so ask them first. CAG contacted my loan company one time..lol..one time for $2000. It is bad enough you may lose your home but imagine giving someone $2000 or more on top of that.

My name is Leslie Carter and i used Advocates for Consumer Affairs. They did an awesome job on my loan modification and forensic loan audit. All the people posting negative reviews are old disgruntled ex-employees that were fired. Dont believe the postings on here from John Maki, jamie Emerson or Karina Leyva. They all worked at ACA. Its a shame these people are so desperate to harm a God fearing Christian company. If you like you are more than welcome to email me at lesliecarter1972@gmail.com and i will tell you my personal experience with this company.

Its kinda funny how we all have been employees with this company since I live in Wisconsin and have never stepped foot in Los Angeles CA in my life! And I know that there is another in Idaho. This post above by Leslie C is so bogus, she hasn't a clue with what she is saying or even knows who we are. If you want more information on this please contact me here, send me a message.

Yeah, I have never worked for a company like this. And I never would. I am a good person and could not live a life of stealing money from people losing their home. I have lived in CA and I have people in the LA area. Maybe I need them to see if theres are real companies or a PO Box. If CAG or ACA is a real, legit company, then why haven't I received a refund? Why is my home being forclosed? Why did CAG contact my home loan company ONE TIME? My loan company refused to discuss my account with CAG because they are not licensed or certified. Email me to if you have questions. I am a real, hardworking, mother of three who was scammed by a fake sales person by the name of Nathan Cass with CAG. He promised my home would be saved and told me I have nothing to worry about. He guarenteed I would get a refund, if anything happend to my house. I really feel like a fool for being so blind. My goal will be to help others and prevent this from happening to them. If you search Forensic Loan Audit, you will see the fraud warnings by the AG in CA. Look beyond the links these companies send you because like I said before, ANYONE can create a website. Now that I have researched it, it seems a legit company will do the work first, present the offer and then seal the deal.

Right on Jamie, I dealt with Todd Goodman, Brian Mitchell, Antonia Perez,Christina M. the only contact Bank of America had with CAG was the in beginning and they sent a cease and desist order, after that nothing. Bank of America contacted me for paperwork and sent everything to me not CAG, I had to send it to CAG. These guys will say anything and do nothing. When I was served a summons I asked them about it and inquired, they stated that the bank was trying to scare us, and we should ignore it. Which seamed fishy. If I would have ignored it we would have lost our house. When Bank of America came back to us with an offer which wasn't even close to what Todd Goodman said we would get, they simply said make the trial payments and we will negotiate after the trial period, thank god I didn't fall for that. There is no negotiating after you make trial payments, you are locked in! I am committed to posting this over and over so others don't fall victim to this scam.

BE CAREFUL!!

I've looked all over their website and couldn't find their real estate license number. And so I called the San Diego Department of Real Estate at (619) 525-4192
to verify that they were licensed and they're not and was advised to be careful before sending them or an attorney any funds for a loan modiciation. This is what I found the following on the www.dre.ca.gov website..

ADVANCE FEES FOR LOAN MODIFICATIONS NOW PROHIBITTED

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed Senate Bill 94 (Calderon) which prohibits any person, including real estate licensees and lawyers, from demanding, charging, or collecting an advance fee from a consumer for loan modification or mortgage loan forbearance services. IF YOU ARE APPROACHED BY ANY PERSON REQUIRING UP FRONT FEES FOR THESE SERVICES DO NOT PAY THEM.

When I checked the BBB, they are listed as Advance Fees Brokers and take a look at their site. This information is directly from the BBB site.. http://www.la.bbb.org/business-reviews/Loan-Modifications-Advance-Fee/Advocates-for-Consumer-Affairs-in-Los-Angeles-CA-100111159

Complaint: 04/17/2012: Christian would not answer my questions, just said to trust him and send in the money.. How can anyone just trust someone they have never met and send over the money like that with all the scams happening in todays world in this industry especially! I do need their help if they are real, not willing to just send over a couple grand to find out. Also, California has a law that mortgage modification companies can NOT require payment upfront.. Why can Advocates for Consumer Affairs break that law? When these questions were asked by me to Christian, he would not reply in a logical manor. When I wrote the questions in an e-mail, he did not answer them, he said to forget the whole thing and that was the last I have heard from him.

Complaint: 04/06/2012: I was told this was a loan modification company. They said I had to pay $1950.00 for them to process. I was to send three checks two for 750 and one for 450. After they cashed first one they began giving me the run around. When I started checking I found it was alleging to charge for service up front. When I called to talk to them I was told I was a Fu....... Idiot his words (Scott O'Brien). And they were going to enjoy my 750 dollars that I would not get back. Now I am further in debt than when I started. They need to be stopped. Please help.
