Crooked Business - Refusal to honor credit balance as shown on statements
Cancelled service 3 mos ago. Received monthly statements since stating I had a credit balance. After about 2 mos did not receive check. Called. Said they sent it. I received statements, never a check. Said they'd send it again and I should have it within 10 business days. Waited longer after not receiving. Called from my land phone line under which account was registered and responded to automated answering that I was not calling for service. I was disconnected. I made that same call within a couple minutes and again was disconnected. Called from cell indicating I was calling to set up new service, but needed my credit refund before I would initiate service. Was told address on record was incorrect, therefore they were "holding my refund." I responded that I never fail to get the statements at the address shown on my account. I find it very difficult to believe Directv ever intended to send my refund, and I was deliberately disconnected when calling them when I indicated I was not calling for new service. Different story when I used a difference phone and indicated I wanted service. This is not even subtly crooked business - it is blatant.

WORST company ever their name should be LIARS TV
I switched from dish network to direct flyer's TV 10 days ago and I spent three hours on the phone with them trying to figure out why the salesman find me up he told me what equipment I would be getting and what it would do. Everything he told me that their equipment would do the equipment that got installed in my home was wrong. The installer showed up for hours late to do the install and didn't even finish it. I told the guy before I even signed up what I had at dish network and he assured me that DirecTV could do the same thing and do it even better and save me money. I see now why they have salesmen in Menard's and Sam's Club and places like that they must be that desperate for business because they lie so bad. After my three hour conversation which started in I guess customer support into technical support then to cancellation then back to customer support then back to technical support then back to cancellation out of those nine people everyone said they would fix it and make it right when I got to the final person who was told to fix that he did Not seem to care whether it was fixed or not he told me I would have to pay for the correct equipment to do what I was trying to do I told him absolutely not then he proceeded to tell me I would have to pay a cancellation service for having their service for 10 days and it not being right from day one
They stand all this money on advertising and they can't even do half of what they say they can do. I'm going to call dish network back and go back to their service I would hope that everyone stayed away from this company I can't believe they don't care anything about their customers and doing what's right

Avoid them at all costs
I admit it, i was duped by Directv along with the rest of you. It seems like the contract is never going to end, even though they seem to be able to change the terms whenever they feel like it. My bill went up, i said no way, i do not agree and they basically said nothing can be done. The only recourse was dropping my package to basically bare bones. When they were feuding with the networks i called because i lost the channels that i mainly watch, they offered 2 years of discounts but never applied them. When i called to complain, they lied and said it wasn't true (nor possible). Pull up the recording i said there would be your proof, they never did. They actually flat out refused to do this. I have been consistently disappointed with Directv as a whole. They cold called me to sign up for DVR service for the whole home. The sales rep set it up and the installation was completed. However, the unit didn't work. It took me a couple of months to realize the service i was getting was NOT what i was paying for. I had to get another receiver to replace the broken one. There is a horrible lag in everything that i do. Loading the guide is a nightmare. When i finally called to say i am done, i have had it, i was informed i was in an agreement for an additional two YEARS. I said no way, not possible. Apparently what the sales rep did NOT tell me was that in signing up for the whole home, i was extending my contract. No change in service, just an additional DVR that was initially broken. I demanded a copy of the recording be sent to me as proof. Never got it. I demanded to be let out of my contract with all the changes in service, the additional fees, the lack of information and above all, the deceptive Sales practices. They refuse. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS. I filed with the BBB, nothing was done. The company just lies to them too. If i could give 0 stars i would. Run far, far away from any Directv sales rep you come into contact with. They are LIARS and the company seems fine with backing their lies.

horrible customer service
I called direct tv about their $29.99 special that includes up to 4 rooms with HD DVR receivers. The agent was a very high-pressure person, pushing all sorts of things. I went along with the process for a while, but refused to complete until I checked some things. For example, the agent said they have over 7,000 movies online, more than netflix, redbox, or charter. Of course, netflix has over 10,000, and the selection is pathetic, charter's even worse. The agent kept saying they'd won awards for customer service and their apps. I pressed her for a price. After all the discounts, $65/month! Something fishy, like bait and switch. I made sure this was the basic package. What happened to the advertised price? She said that I'm getting the install for free. I couldn't pin her down on much, and she had almost no knowledge about any of the services. I asked where all these other charges came from, and, after a long hold a manager answered. Suddenly, the price jumped to $72, then $75 as he looked things over. WTF!? There was more pressure, but I checked their app in guest mode. About 100 apps. Nothing was included, despite what the agent said. According to the BBB, directtv has more complaints than anyone else. I called back, and got a very rude agent who constantly interrupted. I asked questions to try to clarify the discrepancies, but kept being placed on silent hold. When I asked about the online selection, he wanted to discuss automated payments. When I asked about the bait and switch pricing, he wanted my email address. When I went back to my online selection question, he hung up on me. I'm done with directtv.

DirectTV charging $310 for their mistake(s)
We are sorry we ever got involved with this company and are considering dropping them in spite of the $400 cancelation fee. When we complained about the sequence of events that follows below, they told us to read our contract. 1. We placed the order and picked an install date. The order person said NOTHING about needing all TVs onsite for the installer. 2. #1 installer showed up, informed us we needed all TVs, but don't worry about any rooms without a cable - they would take care of running any cables to rooms and then went into an explanation of how they would do it. Then he left, having done nothing. 3. #2 installer showed up and said he could not run cables. In his words, it was "over his head". He did put boxes on the 3 working cables we had, including one that had no TV. Right, no TV but he left a box. He told us to get an electrician to run the other cables we needed and call them back. 4. We hired an electrician at considerable time and expense to run the necessary cables the DirectTV installers could not. 5. Then yesterday we called to finally complete the order and DirecTV said we owed $310 because we took more than 15-days to complete our order - so we were no longer a "new" customer. We appealed their decision but they have refused to complete the order without an extra $310.
Take our advice, and the advice of over 900 others here. Steer clear of this company or you will be duped like the rest of us.

Unauthorized withdraws
This company withdrew from my bank over $400.00, which was unauthorized, causing bank fees of $60.00. I am now unable to pay my house payment. I find it is a shame that this is allowed.
If I were to go to their bank and take even $10.00 out I would go to jail.
I would never allow anyone I know to use this company.
I plan to warn everyone I come in contact with about this company stealing from me.
Shame on Direct TV.

DIRECT TV DOESN'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, THEY WILL ONLY STEAL YOUR MONEY AND THEY WILL MANIPULATE EVER SITUATION SO THAT YOU CAN NOT GET OUT OF THEIR 2 YEAR CONTRACT UNLESS OF COURSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO PAY A $400 FEE, OH AND DON'T THINK WHEN YOU BUY THAT NICE NEW HD TV THAT YOU WILL BE ABLE TO SWITCH TO AN HD BOX WITHOUT HAVING TO PAY ANOTHER $299. How much Direct TV sucks
I have been completely bamboozled by Directv. They damaged my home by sending A highly untrained technician to my home that took every short cut possible. On top of the service not working as promised I had to write 3 letters to get Directv to cancel the service,I wrote 1 to the BBB I also wrote 1 to Michael White and I also wrote 1 to best buy where i was swindled into signing up for a horrible service. The next day it was canceled and a few days later i received an email from April Jimenez who request i write a letter talking about how great Directv is,what a joke and scam. It has been 2 months and i still did not get my money back as promised. I would definately not suggest directv to anyone not even my worst enemy. Directv has cornered the market on 1 thing and have perfected it,they really do know how to mistreat and mislead their customers. Thanks for nothing Directv.

No Customer Service
I was asked to write a positive review on DirectTV since my original complaint was "handled". I just can't do that. I've been fighting with them since Feb 2012 (it's now July) to get my parent's billing correct. Not only can't they get the bill right, they intimidated my Dad (who had Alzheimer's) into paying a bill, not owed, by credit card and had him add to his services. They finally reversed the credit card charges - but they still can't get the billing correct. Watch your bill closely. And if you pay bills for your parents, like I do, make sure they do not have any other phone number other than yours so they don't intimidate another elderly person. They have lousy customer service!!!!

Situation resolved
Per the excellent mediation, DirectTV addressed the issue presented on the basis of the specifics related to the case and resolved the issue fairly and completely. I thank both parties involved for this opportunity to address the issue. DirectTV, as part of a bundled purchase, recognized that the lack of access to high speed internet, due to our location, prevented DirectTV from being able to install the level of service contracted. A full refund was made as well as the contract rescinded.

Direct TV caves!
After I filed a complaint against Direct TV, they finally gave in & deleted the disputed amount of $42.95 it said I owed for purchasing PPV movies 3 years ago. I never ordered the movies & they only came up with this after I mailed back my DVR.
How many other customers have they done this to? If you or someone you know has had this happen to them, please file a complaint with the BBB. I believe that this is a patteren.

Favorable Resolution
After going through the Better Business Bureau, Direct TV did resolve the issues that I had when trying to claim the referral credit that was promised to me when I subscribed to the service as a new customer. The credit has been applied to my account per the response that I received from the Better Business Bureau and I appreciate that it was finally resolved. Although, I would have preferred that it had been resolved when I tried to deal directly with Direct TV vs. making it neccessary to file a complaint through the Better Business Bureau in order to recieve a favorable response. Thank you for resolving this issue and applying the credit and the timely response I recieved after filing the complaint.

Problem solved with your help.
I am posting my thoughts on DirecTV,Inc. After dealing with DirectTV from Jan to present and not getting any where, I was told by a friend to contact the Better Business Bureau, which I did. I received a return notice from TrustLink that they had looked into the matter that I was trying to resolve myself without any success. The person that I dealt with at TrustLink. I would like to thank her as I know for sure that nothing would have been settled with out her help. I am very pleased with the out come of my problem with DirectTV. Thank you so much for settling my problem.

Dispute with DirecTV
I'm happy with the way DirecTV handled my dispute with them. I hope they will continue to look at their policies and try to make decisions based on a client's situation and not paint everyone with the same brush.

removal of bogus charges
Trustlink did a fabulous job contacting direct tv and having them reconsider the charges that we feel were bogus and unwarranted. I'm glad direct tv reconsidered the charges. I know both sides feel they are right. Just glad trustlink was able to talk some sense into them
