I'm not surprised the BBB rates Acer with an F, the worst possible rating.
I bought my Acer just shy of three years ago. I had problems with it from the start. The DVD writer was defective and it went out right after the warranty was over.
This is nothing compared to the problem I had with it about 5 months ago. After 2 1/2 years of owning this thing, the hard drive started going out.
I have no way to recover it at this time. The Acer program to backup the hard drive and to create recovery CDs NEVER WORKED. It will cost at least $20 for the recovery CDs, and that doesn't mean it will work, because their backup program never worked. Thus, I may lose all of my installed programs and data.
I will never buy another Acer. I wish I'd read the reviews first. I wish I could give them ZERO stars. I wish I'd bought a Dell or a Compaq or an HP. ANYTHING other than an Acer.
I wrote to someone at Acer, asking to please get some assistance. Over a week and no reply.
What's interesting is that I found this on their own Web site:
"An ethical company is aware that it must assume full economic, legal, social as well as philanthropic responsibilities."
You don't say! How are they being ethical if they won't fix issues and sell decent quality merchandise?
