After a week's worth of interactions with Vince Barreras, I ended up $1800 in the hole (cash paid for work that was never completed) and missing $1800 worth of supplies and materials for a roofing job that never happened (he "removed them" from the site, saying he was worried someone would steal them). He hired unskilled workers (two women who had never done a roof before), didn't keep his word (it will be done tomorrow), didn't show up to the job for days, pressured me for money, didn't answer his phone, didn't respond to my concerns, had his employees cover for him ("he's on his way", which he never was) and had his wife call and "deal with me." He left the jobsite trashed (literally and actually), kept my receipts, lied to placate me and didn't perform ONE thing he said he would do. He ended by having his wife threaten to sue me for something (breech of contract, I think) because I refused to give him any MORE money. (He hadn't even started the first job.) I would give Vince and Barreras Construction a failing grade- F- and would warn anyone not to give him any money or let him take a hammer to your property. He is a smooth talker who lied to me to avoid work. Don't give him a key, your credit card, a check, your time or your business. He assured me that he could do anything (plumbing, electrical, contracting, home building, roofing, tile work) and ended up not doing anything except making my property uninhabitable for the tenant and unsellable for me.
