I paid a $3,000 retainer for Consult Law Group to negotiate a mortgage modification, after I was unsuccessful in submitting my request for a modification directly to the bank. CLG assured me that there were a number of options, and said that their success rate was 100% in obtaining a modification. In reality, all they did was resubmit my request to the bank, which was of course denied again. It was just as much work for me to give my information to CLG as it was to give it to the bank, so I do not believe that CLG provides a service of any value whatsoever.
