We have had the best move ever and I will take a minute to write a great experience.
Eric Pete and Julio were movers we hired from Guardian Moving Systems to move us across the Valley were awesome.
We, my husband and I live in Sun Valley and we needed to move to Woodland Hills.
I made a request for a moving cost on the internet and in Los Angeles area Guardian popped right up.
We had a very bad experience the last local across town move we did.
The company that I would rather not mention gave us an hourly rate quote with a minimum time.
We the move ended we paid as much as if we bought all out furniture twice.
Once bitten twice shy ain't gonna happen again.
I called the toll fee number to Hercules and the phone was answered in 1/2 a ring.
My first thought was that I hoped the movers would move that fast.
I spoke with Thomas and he asked me for the list of the furniture to be moved.
He was able to assess the amount of boxes based an averages unless I was a pack-rate
I assured Thomas that I could not afford to keep things over time that I did not use on a consistant basis.
One thing we learned since moving to California from Chicago a few years ago is that structures are smaller here and more expensive.
Thomas told me he calls this the "California surcharge".
We didn't really mind as since the weather was such that we would spend more time outdoors compared to Chicago it was worh it.
We were provided a "not to exceed " total move cost based on time, the total time to move all our things.
Thomas told me that he had calculated the cost on the amount of time to load the truck, drive across the valley and unloading.
He said the clock stopped the moment that the last piece of furniture was brought into our new place.
There would be a "double drive time" this was to compansate for the amount of time for the crew to travel to us from the warehouse and to return afterwards.
So I agreed with the total not to excced cost, provided a refundable deposit and arranged our move date.
The morning of the move Eric Pete and Julio showed up 15 minutes before the 1 hour window that customer service confirmed with me the day before.
These mover men as soon as the got out of the truck started moving they put out a ramp went up once and came right out with wardrobe hanging boxes.
To save us time and money we were instructed to take our clothes out of the closet and hang then into the boxes on a metal bar.
As my husband and I were doing this the movers started to wrap moving blankets around the furniture, take our beds apart.
They took a big roll of stretch-wrap plastic and covered our leather sofa and chairs.
When they were done wrapping everything the house emptied out fast.
When all the furniture was on the truck with the boxes the doors were shut on the truck and down the road they went.
Eric the foreman on the job told us that they were about 45 minutes ahead of the estimated time that Thomas figured for loading.
Rather than take a break we agreed to follow the truck to our new place and start the unloading right away.
When we arrived the same swift action took place ramp out and the stuff started coming right out of the truck and into our new home.
When the last piece was brought in the time stopped.
Eric calculated the loading double drive and unloading time and the cost came in less.
What a relief we had prepared to go a little higher than what Thomas quoted us we took a bit of the savings and tipped all three movers.
What a relief we paid less and nothing was broken Guardian Movers was a pleasant experience during a stressful time.
