I attended one of this company's "Seminars" in Spokane, Washington. An acquaintance had invited me to come with her, after she had paid NGC $900.00 for 3 days' worth of instruction. I was concerned as soon as the speaker, a Gus Fernandez, began presenting his material. He used a lot of catch phrases, like "...if you're ready to pull the trigger..." (invest an additional $24,000 to become one of NGC's "elite" members), and "...here's the key to the Mother Ship..." By the way, the "Mother Ship" is a FREE website created and maintained by the US Government, that lists grants. From what I was able to glean from his sales pitch, NGC researched (online) the addresses of the government websites, then packaged them all together in a cd that they gave out on the last day of their conference. The main focus of the seminar was to sell attendees additional "services": more seminars, "retreats", and one on one support from an NGC employee. Although I had come along to learn how to write grants, I only received some printed handouts. The speaker spent a good deal of time talking about buying and selling real estate foreclosures. Incidentally, I had attended a FREE seminar sponsored by WA State Senators, Patty Murray and Maria Cantwell, last year, that gave me more information about grants than I got at NGC's seminar.
