Upset customer

After spending may hours chatting to PayPal through the message center, many unsuccessful attempts to speak with a person, and many emails with no response I am a very upset customer. This has caused lots of anxiety and loss of sleep. I was scammed on Wednesday, June 10 out of $550. I paid for a last minute beach house rental through paypal. I’ve always used paypal because it is supposed to be a secure and protected site. The fake house owner told me I needed to pay through family and friends as they needed the money immediately for me to be able to rent it for that day. I immediately realized it was a fake account and contacted paypal with no success, I then contacted my bank and closed my bank account to keep the scammer from getting funds. I was not aware that paypal was going to pay the funds and put my account in a negative balance. I even spoke with the real beach house owner and she was also upset and trying to get paypal to help her figure out who was posing as her scamming people out of funds but she was also not successful. I am worried about all the other innocent people paypal has continued to allow this scammer to steal money from. I’m also upset that paypal paid on my behalf when I thought the money cane straight out of my account and not being able contact anyone with paypal to stop this. I closed my bank account to prevent the scammer from getting the funds to only have paypal pay this and charge my account.
