I have purchased 2 New Honda Accords. The first was through a dealership in Ft. Lauderdale and the second was through Pompano Honda (a 2005 Accord). I brought my Honda regularly to the Pompano Honda service department. Each visit there they seemed to keep upselling me. They even tried to sell me things I had recently replaced like an upgraded air filter. When asked to check my records they were like oh yea, we did already replace it with this one. They even charged over $500 to repair the front brakes. One day my airbag light went on in my car. My car was not quite 4 years old. I brought it to the dealership and they reported "open in drivers seat position sensor found wiring broken to sensor". They said the wiring harness needed to be replaced. They gave me an estimate to fix. I asked how it broke and why it wouldn't be covered under warranty. They said the car was no longer under warranty. I looked into recalls on the car and found one that says: on certain vehicles the seat position sensor (SPS) detects the driver's seating position and adjusts the air bag inflation pressure accordingly. The wiring harness for the SPS was attached to the seat frame in the wrong location and may have been over tightened. The sensor wire may break and cause the air bag warning light to be illuminated, and the SPS to fail. This recall applied to certain 2004-2005 Honda Accords. When I brought this to their attention they said my vehicle was not included in this recall. I asked them to just explain to me how the wiring harness broke or if they could just confirm it had been installed in the correct place. They would not give me an answer. They just kept telling me I had to pay to fix it. In the interim I brought my car to the Honda dealership in Ft. Lauderdale. Their service department informed me that since I did not use them for my maintenance they were unable to help me. They told me to look at my car they would have to charge me. I just asked them if they could tell me how it could have broke and if it was installed in the correct location. They would not answer. They were extremely rude and again told me that I didn't use them for service so they couldn't help me. It didn't matter that I bought my first Honda there. I will never buy another Honda again or use them for service. I have no problem paying for the airbag fix if they can give me a little more detail on it not just that my car is out of warranty. I find it a little hard to believe that something under my driver's side seat should just break like that.
