I was cold called about 20 minutes ago by this company. I spoke with a pleasant-sounding AMERICAN female who gave her name as "Erika Hampton"--she even gave me her 'direct' phone number of 954-302-1972, as well as the 'corp' number of 866-460-1495 AND her cell # (!!) of 561-305-7562. She explained that she and her husband, "Peyton Hampton", worked for Timeshare Mega Media in Ft. Lauderdale and were sanctioned by the State of Florida in "matching" owners and sellers of timeshares. She had the basic information about the timeshare my husband and I own, and when I asked how she had this (since our's is not listed for sale), claimed she received it from ARTA (??).. Since I could understand her (very unusual in telemarketing scams!)I went ahead and had her explain the whole process to me----all while reading the reviews above! :-) I asked some very pointed questions, including if I could see the contract first before agreeing to the $1996 fee----at this point she said that her husband, "Peyton" was the financial manager and could give me ALL those answers. (I was sensing a "good cop--bad cop" scenario unfolding.)
So, here comes "Peyton"--a little more forceful, but, surprisingly, still spoke English with no hint of an accent! I posed the same question to him (Show me the contract--I show you the $$)--he said that they are "not a real estate company and not subject to the same laws" and that if they showed me the contract, I could take the info and sell the unit on my own, cutting them out of the deal. I laughed and asked why in the world he would think I was trying to scam THEM?? He asked for my email address because he could "send me some information", and was I sitting at a computer? I politely told him I do not give my email address out because of spam--and he sarcastically replied, "Don't you have a spam blocker?" I said yes, and advised that I was going to have to pass on this wonderful offer (sarcasm back at ya, Peyton!) since I was reading some very bad reviews thru the State of Florida BBB at this exact moment. He then dropped the nice guy routine and said "that these are only like what? 15 reviews? Out of hundreds of contracts they have dealt with!) I said, yes, but apparently 15 very wise people, and he hung up on me. :-) Mission accomplished.
