I was very satisfied with Zecco's service. However, they have changed their fee structure to violate their own mission and business model. I'm not so concerned that they imposed trading fees and minimum balances as the fact that they tried to get people to think that this was due to the practices of the majority of THEIR customers (without actually saying it, since it isn't true). The fact is, they changed their fee structure based on a sample of online traders - which is fine. But it does violate their mission to be "different."
I'm still finding internet advertisements around stating "$0 commission - $0 minimum" - which is also true but deceptive. In order to get the $0 commission, you must maintain a $2500 minimum balance. So, there is $0 commission (if you have at least $2500) and $0 minimum (to open an account, but pay commission).
Deceptive corporate-speak, deceptive business practices, deceptive advertisement, and classic bait-and-switch.
Buyer beware.
